How 1700 apprentices are shaping the future of carpentry with our SOMOs
We are thrilled to tell you about our inspiring collaboration with the_Fachverband Tischlerhandwerk NRW_(North Rhine-Westphalia Carpentry Trade Association): Together, we supported over 1700 second-year apprentices in their intermediate exams with our innovative SOMO solar modules to build sustainable bedside lamps as part of their exams.

Traditional craftsmanship meets modern technology
The Fachverband Tischlerhandwerk NRW is passionate about promoting training in the carpentry trade and supports budding craftsmen and women on their way. Our SOMO solar modules have not only created a sustainable light source, but also raised awareness of renewable energy and environmentally friendly technologies among the trainees.
"With the lamp, we wanted to focus on the topic of sustainability and energy generation from sunlight," says Hans Christoph Bittner, design consultant at Tischler NRW, who accompanied the intermediate examination. The exam pieces were equipped by the trainees with hinged joints, dovetail joints and other details. A small magnet in a rotating wooden arm makes it possible to switch the lamp on and off.

The next generation of solar technology
Our sixth-generation SOMO solar modules meet a new generation of trainees who are passionate about climate and sustainability. Here, technological progress is combined with a strong commitment to the environment. The bedside lamps that the trainees have built are the best proof of how we can integrate sustainability into our everyday lives. They show a practical way of using solar energy efficiently in order to become independent of conventional power sources.

From the workbench to the sun: training in the light of sustainability
"The piece featuring the solar light generated a great enthusiasm among the trainees," says Heiko Bahls, head of the Herford guild's inter-company training workshop. The trainees not only expanded their manual skills, but also developed a deeper understanding of sustainability and technology.
This exciting collaboration has shown how sustainable technology can help shape the future of the skilled crafts industry.
