Riders of the Sun
They meet to ride. We brought SOMOs. An evening about a light that adapts to whatever is needed — even when it's improvised.
They meet to ride. Road bikes, bright jerseys, helmets in every colour.
One Sunday in March we joined them. We had brought SOMOs, as a gift: in clear and in orange Adventure Mounts.

Not a bike light. Along for the ride anyway.
The SOMO is not a bicycle light, and we don't sell it as one. We built it as one light for many places: in a jar on the table, in the Adventure Mount on a backpack, on a branch, in your hand.
The riders didn't dwell on that. The carry loop around the handlebar, a cable tie to go with it. Someone asked for scissors. Someone had already tied theirs on before we could ask.

Then the question: does everyone have a light? And the countdown: "One, two, three — on."

Light that adapts
To us, that is the real story. A light doesn't have to be made for everything. It just has to be able to come along. By day the SOMO charges in the sun, by night it gives warm light. Where it belongs is up to whoever holds it.

When it got dark, the SOMOs were still glowing.
We built the SOMO for places where no socket waits in the evening. That Sunday, such a place was a group of young people and their bikes. We wouldn't have planned it that way. It fit all the same.
