Christmas

Christmas gifts that glow

A gift that does not vanish into a cupboard after unwrapping. By day the Sun Jar sits on the table as a decoration; at night it lights up by itself — through the long winter evenings, year after year. And it shines where it is made, too: fairly, in Johannesburg.

For the jar

What goes in the jar at Christmas

The jar opens. Fill it with whatever smells of winter — or with what only your family understands.

A light for the dark season

In December it gets dark early, and that is when the Sun Jar shows what it can do. By day the SOMO in the lid charges at the window; at night the day/night sensor switches the light on by itself. Warm white at 3000K, dimmable, up to 28 hours on medium.

When the winter sun is not enough, the SOMO charges over USB-C. So the gift glows through grey weeks too — on the windowsill, on the dinner table, or hung by its handle in the tree.

Who is it for?

For the parents who have everything: a Sun Jar Classic Artisan Edition, its beads set by hand in Johannesburg. For your niece: a Mini with a small figure inside. For whoever lays the table at Christmas: a Light Carafe — a carafe by day, a lamp by night.

And for your team, customers and partners, there is the Sun Jar with your logo, laser-engraved in the glass or as a colour print.

Frequently asked questions

Because it runs on sunlight instead of throwaway batteries and is made of recycled glass and stainless steel. We make it by hand in a Fair-Trade-certified factory in Johannesburg that runs almost entirely on solar power. And because the SOMO module is replaceable, the gift does not end with the battery.

That depends on the day you order and on your country. Many parcels are on the road in December — so order early. Everything about shipping and shipping costs for your country is on our "Prices & shipping costs" page.
