The light in the lid: SOMO

It sits inside. It comes out. It fits every Sonnenglas.

Solar cells, battery and light in one module: the SOMO charges in the sun by day and glows in your Sun Jar at night. Take it out and use it on its own – as a flashlight, in another Sonnenglas or under the Lightshade.

SOMO has been around since 2022 – and it also fits every older Sonnenglas, right back to the first one from 2013. Your jar stays; only the light gets new.

The story

The Sun Jar has always been a space for creative freedom: a vessel that makes something personal glow. The Artisan Editions put it into the hands of African artisans. Through Fair Trade collaborations, every piece is income for the artists, and traditional techniques stay alive. The Light Figures are made with Ngwenya Glass in Eswatini: hand-blown, from 100% recycled glass. Our Light Carafe is made at the same glassworks.
