A lampshade with a cork base. The SOMO on top. Your bottle underneath.
By day the SOMO charges in the sun, by night it shines through the shade — through shweshwe fabric or cotton wrapped by hand. No cable, no socket. Yesterday's wine bottle becomes tonight's lamp.

Two collections
Swapcover or Unwoven?
Both stand on the same cork base and carry the same SOMO. The difference: in the Swapcover Collection you change the cover whenever you like. In the Unwoven Collection the cotton is wound around the frame by hand, for good — each one unique.

You pull the cover over the frame. Fancy another pattern? Pull it off, put a fresh one on.
Shweshwe is South Africa's printed cotton. As a Swapcover you pull it over the frame — and change it whenever you like: for the season, the room, the mood. Extra covers are sold separately.

The cotton is wound onto the frame by hand, for good. There is nothing to swap — Lightshade and frame stay one.
For the Unwoven Collection, cotton yarn is wrapped by hand directly around the stainless-steel wire frame — a job of several hours. Colour beside colour, band beside band — and no two shades are alike.
Every Lightshade is made by hand, so each one is unique. Slight colour variations in the pattern are possible.

The complete set comes with a SOMO. Already have a 6th-generation Sun Jar Classic? Unscrew its SOMO from the lid and set it on the Lightshade — the jar lights up again as soon as it's back.

Frequently asked questions
The cork base fits almost any bottle neck: old wine bottles, water bottles, slender vases. You simply slip the Lightshade on — no tools, no conversion.
Any SOMO from the 6th generation on (since 2022), in the large Classic size. If you own a 6th-generation Sun Jar Classic (1000 ml), unscrew its SOMO from the lid and use it on the Lightshade. The complete set includes a SOMO.
Swapcover: a cover of South African shweshwe fabric that you pull over the frame and can change any time. Extra covers are sold separately. Unwoven (Artisan Edition): cotton wrapped by hand directly around the stainless-steel wire frame in a process of several hours, fixed to it for good — every piece is unique.
A finished bottle light always takes three things: the frame with its cork base, a cover and the SOMO. The complete set contains the Lightshade and the SOMO. The Lightshade on its own comes without a SOMO — in the Swapcover Collection with one cover of your choice, in the Unwoven Collection with its hand-wrapped shade.
Yes. Once you flip the magnetic bracket set in cactus leather, the SOMO's day/night sensor is active. It sets the brightness by itself — by ambient light and battery level.
